Who we are
SearchQuik is a Windows desktop search app from SearchQuik. This policy applies to the app on your PC and to searchquik.com. Public copy: https://searchquik.com/privacy.
What the app can access
You choose which folders SearchQuik may look through. It reads file names, paths, dates, sizes, and — for supported types — text inside those files so you can search them. Photos and scanned PDFs may be processed with Windows OCR on this device if you leave those settings on. By default it looks through Desktop, Documents, Downloads and your other fixed drives, but not the drive Windows runs from; you can remove any of them. Windows system folders, program folders, temp files, and caches stay out by default.
What stays on this PC
The search index, settings, logs, and optional usage tally live under your Windows local app data folder (SearchQuik, or the older Stringz folder if that already existed). Searches, file names, and file contents are not sent to SearchQuik servers as part of search or indexing.
Your SearchQuik account
If you sign in with Google, SearchQuik receives your Google account ID, name, email address and profile picture, and stores them on searchquik.com (Cloudflare and a Neon database) so Quick AI and paid features can be tied to you. The app keeps a sign-in token in Windows Credential Locker on this PC. Signing out removes it from this PC and ends that session on searchquik.com. Your files, file names and what you search are never part of your account. To delete your account, email support@searchquik.com.
Beta applications
If you apply for the beta on searchquik.com, we store the email address you enter, and your name, Windows version and what you want to find faster if you give them, in a Neon database behind Cloudflare. We use them only to run the beta: to decide who to invite, to let that Google account sign in during the beta, and to email you about your invite. Your IP address is used briefly to limit repeat submissions and is not stored. To withdraw your application or have it deleted, email support@searchquik.com.
Optional usage sharing
On unless you turn it off in Settings. SearchQuik records feature counts only (for example that a search happened, a file type filter, or that indexing finished), with a random install ID and a per-run session ID. If you are signed in, these counts are linked to your account. It never records what you typed, file names, or paths. A private log is kept on this PC, and the same count-only lines are sent over HTTPS to searchquik.com, which runs on Cloudflare and stores them in a Neon database. Your IP address is not stored with them. You can turn this off at any time.
Optional AI answers
Ask can quote matching passages from files already in your index without leaving this PC. If you turn on written answers and provide an API key or run a local model, short excerpts you already made searchable may be sent to that model provider. We do not receive those excerpts. You can leave AI off.
Currency conversion
If you type a currency amount in search, SearchQuik may request public European Central Bank reference rates (via Frankfurter) to show a conversion. That request happens only after a currency query, uses HTTPS, and does not include your search text or an account. Rates are cached on this PC.
Installed apps and media
The search bar can list Start Menu shortcuts and installed packaged apps by name, and can preview video files you select. App lists and previews stay on this PC.
Children
SearchQuik is a general-productivity app. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly create accounts for or collect contact information from children.
Your choices
Remove folders anytime. Turn OCR, photos OCR, AI, and usage sharing off in Settings. To remove the index and logs from this PC, uninstall SearchQuik and then delete its local data folder.
